“In May of 1929 a mysterious journal made its way to the New York Historical Society, the owner of which was simply referred to as “Coleman”.
Inside they found documents of an undisturbed Mayan civilisation. Supposedly hidden from the world, the civilisation had developed technologies thought to be impossible.​

Absent from any record or archive, expeditions set out to find the undiscovered Mesoamerican people, but to no avail.
The anthropological community thought of the journal as nothing more than an elaborate hoax.​

No author or organisation has ever come forward to claim the journal, though the inscription does request that the journal be given to one

The journal has only recently been on display for the public. From which a new private study is set to undertake in un-explored areas of Guatemala with the latest scientific technologies.​

With a refreshed interest in its secrets; the lost city of Lamat described in the journal may still be found once more.”

This project sets out to see if there is an
effective creative bridge in which artists can extrapolate from other practices to create pieces that illustrate a believable built world effectively.

For my final deliverable I delivered a gallery of varied and unique emulations of an explorer’s journal, within the context of the author recording their findings of my constructed world.

The journal delivers world-building information through visuals, designs and text. Furthermore, the journal is presented by a fictitious third-party sharing the work; this adds straight forward descriptions to the contents of each page.
